Roll Call: Non-U.S. Readers of T&S

Comments expressing love for President Faust have been left by readers in India and the Netherlands Antilles. Our own Wilfried Decoo writes from Belgium. A relatively new participant hails from somewhere in Great Britain.

This all makes me curious to know how wide our T&S community really is.

If you read T&S from somewhere outside the United States, would you kindly take a moment to comment here, please?     I served in Cape Verde when it was still part of the Lisbon South mission. What island are you on? How is the Church there? What are you doing there?

    Oh, and I guess I’m commenting from Texas, the state a surprising number of denizens truly believe is its own country.

    My husband and I are on a medical/office mission for the Church. We have six months left to go. We are stationed on the main island of Santiago, in the capital city of Praia. There are currently 68 missionaries serving, three districts and 17 branches. Times and Seasons is a great place to get fresh ideas. This is my husband’s 4th mission and my 2nd.
    We want to know why more senior couples don’t go on missions? We have heard every excuse in the book. We have excuses, but our love for the Lord over rules all of them. Incidently, my husband is 75 years old, and I am 52. We have a combined posterity of 10 children, 46 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. We miss every one of them, and we will have a couple of new faces to greet when we get home.

  31. Currently serving a 23 month mission with my husband inSt.Petersburg, Russia. We are humanitarian missionaries and my husband is also branch president. Going home is 37 days but I think I’ll keep reading T&S in Anchorage, Alaska.

  32. Marcie #19 Please don’t judge other seniors who don’t serve missions, you don’t really know why they don’t or can’t. I have a friend who with her husband would dearly like to serve a mission but health problems do not allow it. The problems are not obvious and she has been hurt many times by people asking “when are you two going to go on a mission?” Yes, serving a mission as seniors is a wonderful blessing but it is not given to all to serve so let’s not judge each other.

  34. All y’all be careful when you’re talking about the Republic of Texas, now. We’re U.S. by choice, not because somebody bought us or whooped somebody else and took us.

American living in Solihull, as far from the sea in any direction as it’s possible to get in England (but that’s not very far), settled here for 35 years, with excellent opportunities to discuss category boundaries around “gospel”, “church”, “church culture”, “Utah culture”, “American culture”, “English culture”, principles, policies, and procedures.

  43. I live in Yorkshire, England, ‘God’s own county’ as it’s affectionately known. I’ve been a member of the church for 30 years and have been reading T&S for ages but never got around to commenting on a post. Maybe one day I’ll pluck up courage and pitch in.
