I served in Cape Verde when it was still part of the Lisbon South mission. What island are you on? How is the Church there? What are you doing there?
Oh, and I guess I’m commenting from Texas, the state a surprising number of denizens truly believe is its own country.

My husband and I are on a medical/office mission for the Church. We have six months left to go. We are stationed on the main island of Santiago, in the capital city of Praia. There are currently 68 missionaries serving, three districts and 17 branches. Times and Seasons is a great place to get fresh ideas. This is my husband’s 4th mission and my 2nd.
We want to know why more senior couples don’t go on missions? We have heard every excuse in the book. We have excuses, but our love for the Lord over rules all of them. Incidently, my husband is 75 years old, and I am 52. We have a combined posterity of 10 children, 46 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. We miss every one of them, and we will have a couple of new faces to greet when we get home.
Can we really count Canada as not being part of this country? (Grin)

Marcie #19 Please don’t judge other seniors who don’t serve missions, you don’t really know why they don’t or can’t. I have a friend who with her husband would dearly like to serve a mission but health problems do not allow it. The problems are not obvious and she has been hurt many times by people asking “when are you two going to go on a mission?” Yes, serving a mission as seniors is a wonderful blessing but it is not given to all to serve so let’s not judge each other.
