Salt Press is fledgling publishing venture cofounded by Joseph Spencer, Jenny Webb, Robert Couch, and myself. We’re an independent academic press dedicated to publishing books that engage Mormon texts, show familiarity with the best contemporary thinking, remain accessible to non-specialists, and foreground the continuing relevance of Mormon ideas. While our titles are all available under a creative commons license that allows users to freely copy, distribute, and transmit the books in their entirety, Salt also remains committed to print publications of the highest design quality and these books are available for purchase from both traditional and online booksellers. Our editorial board includes Brian Birch, Richard Bushman, John Caputo, James Faulconer, Terryl Givens, Kristine Haglund, Grant Hardy, Heather Hardy, Eric Huntsman, Daniel Peterson, Naomi Sloan, and Julie Smith.

Reading Nephi Reading Isaiah and An Experiment on the Word  both collect papers from previous iterations of the Mormon Theology Seminar. These volumes have already been jointly reviewed at:

An Experiment on the Word has been individually reviewed at:

Reading Nephi Reading Isaiah has also received an early individual review at:

Spencer’s An Other Testament received some early praise here:

My own Rube Goldberg Machines has also already been discussed in several venues:

Several of the essays included in Rube Goldberg Machines also factored directly into my having been recently named Best Mormon Essayist of 2011 by the Association of Mormon Letters.

Stop in and visit with us. Virtual relationships are good, but meeting real people over real books is nice too.
